The Bigfellas "In The Daytime"

from the album: Clap! (2003)

NOTHING FOUND!

Lyrics

Sometimes in public I eavesdrop
In flip-flops, in tanktops, at coffee shops
I wonder why there are people around
Sitting down, tanned & brown, all over town

How do they survive without working nine to five is just a mystery
Going into work, and being treated like a jerk is all history

In the daytime
... in plain sight, in daylight
In the daytime
... money is time, and we’re fine in the daytime

Sure there’s some things that I can’t afford
Nice keyboard, new surfboard, my landlord
But I’ve got all the time to do what I want
A hot dog, restaurant, I’m a lunch savant

Life is just a ball, and I want to have it all,
But I won’t nitpick
Life is just a bitch, and I don’t want to get rich, unless I ...
Get rich quick

In the daytime
... snobby slobs, with no jobs
In the daytime
... money is time, and we’re fine in the daytime

Days turn into months and months turn into years
Staying here, drinking beers with my peers
I can’t help but think that there’s something more
Than outdoor bookstores with sophomores

Needing a breakthrough about choosing what to do
I can’t decide
Can’t do this forever, got to get my shit together, and then
I backslide

In the daytime
... in plain sight, in daylight
In the daytime
... snobby slobs, with no jobs
In the daytime
... money is time, and we’re fine in the daytime
In the daytime
... money is time, and we’re fine in the daytime

Story Behind The Song

This song always felt like our unofficial theme song for San Diego which is populated by daytime slackers.

We re-did this song again later during sessions for Chubbed Up and not really released until the I Wish That I Were Gay EP. This original version is less polished but probably the better one, especially since we had Tim with us for harmonies.

Not available anywhere else. Feel free to come back here and play it whenever you want (or buy it on the Bigfellas Store, link above).

Also, our friend Mike Stutz made a great video for this when it was involved in a very-indie film project. Click here to watch the video.
